1 -to check o to control?-
Nota d'usoI verbi to check e to control si possono entrambi tradurre in italiano con “controllare”, ma possiedono una sfumatura di significato ben diversa. To check ha il significato di “verificare”: I have to check the time of the meeting, devo controllare l'ora della riunione; to control invece significa “avere il controllo di”, “tenere sotto controllo”: The Democrats continued to control the Senate until last year, i democratici hanno continuato a controllare il Senato fino allo scorso anno.
